Born poor in Swaziland
You will:

be one in two of your siblings who are stunted due to hunger
•
not have access to any books before you go to primary school
•
be looked after by a single mother or grandmother who will not have the time
or energy to play with you constuctively
•
get a lot of scolding and little praise
•
have a high chance of being abused (especially if you are a girl)
Consequently you will perform badly at primary school, repeat
years, not attend high school, lack self confidence, be unable to
find a job and live in poverty yourself.
We can change this
By investing in pre-school education, which has a proven and very high impact,
especially for children living in poverty.

“Ayanda” is from a
very poor family in
Mpolonjeni
“Ayanda” graduated from our preschool in Nkoyoyo last year.
She:
•
went to one of the better primary schools in Mbabane
•
came 6th out of 60 in the first term
•
scored above average marks in every subject
Her brother will graduate next year and we have arranged for
a donor to help his family pay for transport and school
expenses to enable him to join his sister at the same primary
school
